Match day three. But before the game a stop for a bite to eat in the middle of the area’s vineyards. Only one fixture today and it was captained by Jack Cantillon. Peter Osborne started the scoring with a well taken penalty. Mount Aspiring hit back with two tries and a conversion separated by a penalty by Osborne. Despite having the lions-share of possession it looked as though we would hit the break behind. But just before the whistle, Osborne crossed the line and converted to make it 13:12 at half-time. The second half was a different affair as we managed to convert possession into points more effectively. Tries from Rob O’Connor and Gary Burns separated by a brace of remarkable tries from Brett Cella saw us stamp our authority on the game. Osborne converted the latter two tries to leave the finally score 37:12 to us. Thanks to Mount Aspiring and Upper Clutha RFC for hosting us and putting on a great post-match reception. Jack Cantillon was name forward of the game and Peter Osborne best back. A relaxing evening with dinner in the town was followed by an early night as some will have an early start in the morning.
