Day 11 Dunedin Queenstown

Up for pre match breakfast and then off to Tahuna Park, home to New Zealand’s first ever international test, for our games. The game versus Kings High School (Andrew Melville’s alma mater) started at a cracking pace. We scored early through Sam Coughlan-Murray but Kings hit back straight away with a well worked line-out maul. We hit the front again through Rob O’Connor and further tries from Coughlin-Murray and O’Connor gave us a 26:7 lead at halftime. Ronan O’Neachtain was successful from 3 of the 4 conversions. The second half was a closer affair with both teams tackling hard and defending well which meant that neither team managed to add to their tally. Rob O’Connor and Sam Coughlan-Murray were named forward and back of the game. The game against Otago Boys proved to be a close one all the way. A try from Christopher McCarthy and conversion and penalty from Conor Browne saw us go 10:3 up. A late try from Otago Boys, just on half time, meant the game entered the break all square at 10 all. A physical and tight second half saw the teams trade penalties. The good defense of both teams meant these would be the only scores of the second half and the final whistle marked a 13 all draw. David Rigney and Michael Brown were name forward and back of this game.
After a short reception at Kings High School we hopped on the bus for the drive to Queenstown. A fantastically scenic journey saw us get to Queenstown just after dark. We settled into our accommodation for our longest stay of the trip.

  3. well done everyone. Great results all round. Photos of matches looked wonderful. Enjoy your rest. Note: Clothes looked awfully clean so you must have discovered what washing machines do. We also have one. Its the white box with the window on it in the utility room. I must introduce you to it when you come home.

  4. Allowing the Kings to score a try from a line-out maul...Mellie must be disgusted. 20 laps for the forwards. Well done though, keep it up.
